# Linux for newbies
This brief lecture aims to introduce some of the basic concepts, history and practical tricks of Unix systems, focusing primarily on Linux.
The lecture is targeted to Windows users that are completely newbies to Linux. The contents are based on our experience and can be largely discussed. Discussion is welcome and we hope to receive some contributions for next editions.
There is an accompanying presentation with shameful pictures and illustrative gifs, so don't forget to check it out. Notes and slides don't exactly match, so look for codes like this one for matching ▶ \[A\].
